Embed is an extension of Vaimaila Urale’s interest in ASCII, early computer image making using keyboard characters. The exhibition features new large scale screen prints as well as ceramic works referencing ‘talking sticks’ and Lapita pottery. Vaimaila’s practice references traditional Polynesian visual language, in juxtaposition with contemporary artistic practice and mark making. She is known for her work as part of the collaborative art collective D.A.N.C.E art club and her involvement with Whau arts festival. Her work has been exhibited in public galleries including Dowse Art Museum and Mangere Arts Centre.

FLOOR TALK;  10- 11am Saturday 15 October; Josephine Cachemaille and Vaimaila Urale create an interactive social space within the gallery - inviting people to engage with and activate the artworks. Both exhibitions and all events are a part of Auckland Art Week 2016.
